The Dunwoody Lady Wildcats scored nine unanswered goals on the way to a 10-01 victory over the Druid Hills Lady Red Devils in late game action at Adams Stadium on Friday night.
Dunwoody’s Ella Ryan put the Wildcats up 1-0 early with a steal of a pass and a nice shot over the top of Druid Hills goalie Kaitlin Sinkler less than three minutes into the game.
The score remained 1-0 until Druid Hills’ Libby Fisher did not give up against a Dunwoody defender as she tried to control a pass deep in the offensive end of the field. Fisher gained control and popped a shot over Dunwoody goalie Ella Holland’s head into the net to knot the game at -1 with 6:35 left in the first half.
Dunwoody (7-3) would answer with two goals in the final 4:07 of the first half to take a 3-1 lead at the break. Sarah Holland picked up the first of the two goals at the 4:07 mark dribbling through traffic and nailing the right corner of the net with the go-ahead goal.
Camryn Lampoon took a pass into the left corner near the Dunwoody
goal and lofted a pass to Lily Garrigan who put it in the net for a 3-1 advantage at the 2:49 mark of the first half.
Druid Hills (4-5-1) did a good job of handling the pressure put on by Dunwoody for the first 11 minutes of the second before Garrigan broke with goals at the 29:11 and 26:36 marks of the second half to put the Wildcats up 5-1.
Six minutes later Julia Gild put a header into the goal for a 6-1 Dunwoody lead and three minutes later Ryan scored her second goal of the night with a shot from the right wing.
Lampron followed Gild’s earlier lead with a header for a score of her own while Sarah Holland got her second goal and Garrigan hit a penalty kick to close out the scoring in the final nine minutes for the final of 10-1.
