This weekend’s DCSD football schedule features five All-DeKalb matchups on Friday night as the football season moves into Week 2 across Georgia.

Stephenson (1-0) plays host to the Southwest DeKalb Panthers (0-1) at 7:30 pm at Hallford Stadium in a rivalry led by the Jaguars 10-6. Many of the 16 games featured head-to-head clashes with two retired DeKalb legends in Buck Godfrey (SWD) and Ron Gartrell (Stephenson).

Stephenson won the last meeting in 2019 by a score 25-18 in a back-and-forth game under the direction of Gartrell. This year the Jaguars are coming off a 17-6 season opening win over the Lithonia Bulldogs giving Stephenson alum and new head coach Marcus Jelks his first win at Stephenson.

Southwest DeKalb is coming off a tough 9-7 loss to Stockbridge last week.

An all-DeKalb double-header is set for Adams Stadium as Druid Hills (0-1) looks to rebound from a season opening loss as the Red Devils host the Redan Raiders (0-0) seeing their first action of the year in the 5:15 opener. Redan holds a 2-0 edge over Druid Hills in head-to-head play having won the 2020 matchup.

The nightcap starts at 8:00 pm as a pair of Week 1 winners clash with the Lakeside Vikings (1-0) host the Miller Grove Wolverines (1-0). Lakeside was led by the big plays of AJ Hollman last week who had a 57-yard rushing touchdown, a 57-yard receiving touchdown and a 95-yard kickoff return for a touchdown against Berkmar. Miller Grove leads the series 7-2 and won the last matchup in 2017 18-16. The Wolverines are coming off a 24-7 road win over Walnut Grove last Friday.

Avondale Stadium features the Martin Luther King Jr. Lions (0-1) looking for the first win of the season hosting the Arabia Mountain Rams (1-0) in a neighborhood rivalry. The rivals are tied at 3-3 in the series. The Rams are coming off a 21-7 road win over Rockdale County last Friday while the Lions fell 34-0 to McDonough. Arabia Mountain’s Solomon Rayton rushed for 224 yards and two touchdowns on 31 carries against Rockdale.

The Class 3A No. 1 ranked Cedar Grove Saints open their season hosting the Tucker Tigers (0-1) at 7:30 pm at Godfrey Stadium. Tucker fell 32-7 on the road at Dacula last Friday night. The Tigers hold a 10-1 advantage over the Saints in one of the most played rivalries in DeKalb. Tucker won the last meeting 51-12 in 2013.

Chamblee (1-0), Clarkston (0-0), Dunwoody (0-1), Lithonia (0-1) and Stone Mountain (1-0) all go on the road this weekend. Columbia (0-1), Cross Keys (0-1), McNair (0-0) and Towers (0-1) are all set for open dates this week.
