Lakeside Shuts Out Northside 7-0 for Sweet 16 State Playoff Berth

Three first half goals proved to be more than enough as the Lakeside Lady Vikings cruised to a 7-0 win over the Northside-Warner Robins Lady Eagles in the first round of the Class 6A girls’ state soccer playoffs at Adams Stadium on Thursday night.

Northside goalie Macy Mayoralgo made a diving save with 32:55 left in the first half, but less than 10 minutes and a pair of shots later the Vikings took a 1-0 lead. Lakeside’s Paige Robinson picked up a deflection to the left of the goal and scored the only goal Lakeside (11-6-0) would need.Lakeside Shuts Out Northside 7-0 for Sweet 16 State Playoff Berth

Kenley Speece extended the lead to 2-0 with her goal at the 16:42 mark of the first half. The advantage increased to 3-0 before the half as Charisse Miller took a pass from Alexia Spetseris and turned it into another goal with 5:20 remaining in the half.

Robinson added her second goal of the game less than five minutes into the second half to push Lakeside further in front at 4-0.

Sophia Maher and Natalie Hanson scored within two minutes of each other to make it a six-goal advantage with 16:45 to play.

Spetseris picked up her own goal with 11:01 remaining for the final of 7-0.

Lakeside will host the winner of Lakeside-Evans and Richmond Hill on Wednesday, April 29 at Adams Stadium with a time to be announced.

In other Class 6A girls’ action on Thursday, the Tucker Lady Tigers (8-11-0) lost a road playoff game 1-0 to Lee County (11-2-0) to end their season.

The Tucker Tigers (9-10-0) extended their season by defeating Lee County(7-6-3) 3-0 in the doubleheader at Lee County between the two schools. Tucker advances to face the winner of Lakeside-Evans and Richmond Hill on Thursday, April 29 at a site to be determined.
