Three DeKalb Tennis Teams Competing in State Playoffs Elite 8

The GHSA State Tennis Playoffs continue on Tuesday with three DeKalb teams hitting the court for a chance to reach state semifinals.

The three-time defending Class 5A girls’ state champions Chamblee Lady Bulldogs (16-3), the Region 5-5A champs, go on the road to face the Region 3 champs Woodward Academy Lady War Eagles on Tuesday. The match is set for 4:15 pm at Woodward. Chamblee advanced to the third round with a 5-0 sweep of Cartersville last week.

The Lakeside Vikings and Lady Vikings get to play host roles in the Elite 8 round of the Class 6A state tennis playoffs on Tuesday.

The Vikings (9-2) host Cambridge and the Lady Vikings (7-4) host Centennial on Tuesday at 2:00 pm at the DeKalb Tennis Center. The Vikings advanced to the third round with a 3-0 win over Statesboro. The Lady Vikings nipped Statesboro 3-2 to move into the matchup with Centennial.

In other results last week, Dunwoody (13-7) fell 3-0 to Alpharetta in the Class 7A girls’ state playoffs to finish its season.

Class 6A results last week had the Tucker Tigers dropping a 3-1 decision to Lakeside-Evans in boys’ play to wrap up their 2021.

The Chamblee Bulldogs (13-5) had their season come to end with an heartbreaking 3-2 loss to Grady on Friday. Two three-set losses proved to be the difference.
