The Tucker Tigers rolled up 400 yards of total offense and scored a pair of defensive touchdowns on the way to a 55-0 Region 4-6A victory over the Morrow Mustangs to clinch a Class 6A playoff berth.

Tucker entered the game 1-6 on the season, but still just one win away from a playoff berth. Morrow, also 1-6 on the season, tried to get the jump on the Tigers as Clenton Rafe returned the opening kickoff 97 yards for an apparent touchdown only to have a holding call nullify the big moment.

It was all Tigers from that point as they got the offense moving on their second possession behind a 19 yard run by Omarion Haynes and runs of 10 and 20 yards by Josh Morgan to set up Tucker’s first touchdown. Facing a first and 10 at the Morrow 13, quarterback Amir Streeter kept around the left end and raced to the pylon for the first touchdown of the game. Charlie Cooper tacked on the PAT for a 7-0 Tiger lead with 3:18 left in the first quarter.

Still leading 7-0 Barry Manning intercepted a Mustang pass and returned it 40 yards for the Tigers’ second touchdown of the game with 7:41 left in the first half. Cooper was good again on the PAT to make it 14-0.

A short punt by Morrow set the Tigers up at the Mustangs’ 25. Three plays later Corey Pendergrass went off the left tackle for 12 yards and the touchdown with 3:32 to play in the first half. Cooper’s PAT was good to make it 21-0.

Tucker got the ball back at their own 35 with 1:23 left in the first half. Following a 15-yard scramble by Streeter, Manning got his second touchdown of the night as Streeter hit him in stride down the left sideline for a 50-yard touchdown strike with 59 seconds left. Cooper put it through the uprights on the PAT to give the Tigers a 28-0 lead at the half.

The second half opened with the Tigers marching 65 yards in seven plays to score on a Streeter to Pendergrass four-yard swing pass with 7:47 left in the third period. Cooper converted the PAT again for a 35-0.

Two plays later Anthony Ammons stepped in front of a Morrow pass for the interception and a 35-yard touchdown return at the 6:52 mark of the quarter. Cooper made it 6-6 on PATs to push the lead to 42-0.

Tucker would score twice more in the fourth quarter as Josh Morgan ran it in from eight yards out and Ammons got loose on a 41-yard touchdown run to close out the 55-0 victory.
